Reliability is More Than Just a Word To Us

ProCarpet, Inc. started as a small carpet and floor covering store. However, satisfied retail customers who also owned businesses in Western NY were impressed with our quality and value, and it wasn’t long before ProCarpet gradually transitioned into the commercial flooring space. Over time, we have evolved into the premier provider of commercial floor covering products in the Northeast region.

Our History

From Retail to Commercial: Our Founding Story

Founded by Lou and Eileen Mandell in 1979 as a carpet cleaning and janitorial supply business. However, their clients were so impressed with the quality of our cleaning services, and it wasn’t long before ProCarpet gradually transitioned into the residential & commercial flooring installation space. Over time, we have evolved into the premier provider of residential and commercial floor covering products in the Northeast region.

Poised for growth, the Mandell family enlisted the help of their children to expand the business further. In 1990, son Lou Mandell Jr. joined the business, followed by daughter Darla Mandell in 1995. Driven by a passion for customer satisfaction, we have made a name for ourselves, providing commercial flooring solutions to the entire Northeast US. We have commercial sales offices in Western NY, Western PA, and South Florida to meet the rising demand and cater to our esteemed clients. Our unwavering commitment to quality, diversity, and inclusion has also earned us NYS Certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise. With this certificate, we can partner with organizations that prioritize supplier diversity and support the growth of women-owned businesses.

1979: Humble Beginnings

Founded in 1979 by Lou and Eileen Mandell, ProCarpet, Inc. had humble origins as a carpet cleaning and janitorial supply business. Operating out of their family home, Lou & Eileen laid the foundation for what would become a thriving enterprise.

1981: Venturing into Flooring

Responding to customers' requests for assistance with flooring issues in 1981, ProCarpet expanded services to include sales and installation. This marked a pivotal moment, setting the stage for rapid business growth.

1983: Building the Foundation

In 1983, recognizing the need for space, Lou & Eileen constructed the original warehouse and office in Spencerport, providing a dedicated facility for our expanding operations.

1986: Doubling in Size

Just three years later, in 1986, our commitment to quality service led to a doubling in size with an addition to the building, reflecting the increasing demand for our offerings.

1991: The Next Generation

As the family legacy continued, Lou & Eileen's son, Lou Mandell Jr. joined the company in 1991. The same year, responding to sustained growth, we added another expansion to our facilities.

1995: Welcoming Darla

In 1995, Lou & Eileen's daughter Darla became a part of our team, contributing to our shared vision of success and customer satisfaction.

2004: Spencerport Expansion

By 2004, our Spencerport location had undergone further expansion, boasting over 25,000 sq ft of warehouse and office space to accommodate our flourishing business.

2009: Passing the Torch

In 2009, Darla and Lou assumed leadership roles, with Darla named president and Lou as vice president. This year also saw our certification as a New York State Women-Owned Business Enterprise (NYS WBE), a designation we proudly hold to this day.

2016: Pittsburgh Expansion

2016 marked our entry into the Pittsburgh market, expanding our footprint with 10,000 sq ft of warehouse and office space and a dedicated team of three.

2018: Sunshine State Ventures

In 2018, ProCarpet ventured into the Tampa/Florida market, establishing a presence with approximately 9,000 sq ft of warehouse and office space and a dedicated team of two. Our commitment to growth and excellence continues to drive us forward.
